Reading & Writing Academy
The Reading and Writing Academy is a 12-week intensive program to help increase young people's motivation to read, write and build their literacy skills. Participants in the program will read engaging books that make connections to each of their lives and participate in writing workshops ranging from journaling, poetry, lyrics, and writing a book.
Pathways to home OWNERSHIP & Property Management
The Pathways to Home Ownership & Property Management Project aims to create a ripple effect of positive change, empowering young boys and girls of color to excel in the real estate and property management industries and become agents of change and advocates for diversity and inclusion in their communities. Through education, mentorship, and practical experience, we are poised to make a lasting impact on the lives of our participants and the industries they enter. This project will be led by Jonnell Atkins, The Seven Figure Host.
TECH LAB: Empowering Tomorrow's Innovators TO BridgE the Digital & TECHNOLOGY Divide
Empowering young boys and girls of color in emerging technology fields is not just a social imperative; it's an economic necessity and a source of innovation. Our program seeks to bridge the digital divide by providing comprehensive education and training in Coding, A.I., Web3, Blockchain, Crypto Currency, E-Gaming, and other digital tools to empower the next generation of diverse tech leaders.
Life Skills & Leadership DEVELOPMENT
The life skills and leadership development program offers comprehensive life-skills training designed for youth and young adults ages 14 and older, which provides a series of workshops designed to help prepare youth for a successful transition into adulthood. The program workshops will include financial literacy, money management, time management, home etiquette, homeownership, personal care, health & wellness, educational planning, job planning, anger management, conflict resolution, knowing your rights, building relationships, and youth advocacy.
Annual Education Field Trip
Each year, with the support of donations, sponsors, and partnerships, the Aswad Thomas Foundation will bring youth and volunteers on educational and fun field trips to historic locations throughout the United States. This will include the Basketball Hall of Fame, Pro Football Hall of fame, National Museum of African American History & Culture, Dr. Martin Luther King National Park, National Center for Civil and Human Rights, Tuskegee Airmen National Historic Site, and many more to come.
Annual YOUTH Basketball Camp
The annual Larry "Cowboy" Harris basketball camp will provide an inspiring basketball summer camp experience to boys and girls ranging from grades K-8. The basketball camp will develop fundamental skills through group and individual skill instruction and 5-on-5 gameplay while instilling core values such as communication, hard work, respect, and teamwork.
